Project Overview
Engineered hardwood installed over a carefully leveled main floor, with an aluminum-oxide finish selected to hold up to pets, sand and Cape Cod summers.
The existing floor was sound but flat and dated, and the slab needed significant leveling before new flooring could be installed properly. We mapped the high and low points and brought the entire floor within the flatness tolerance the manufacturer requires.
Engineered hardwood was chosen over solid for this main floor \u2014 it handles Cape Cod\u2019s seasonal humidity swings more dimensionally, and the wear layer stands up better to pets and sand tracked in from the beach.
The finish is an aluminum-oxide coating, one of the hardest available, applied in multiple coats with correct dry times. Matching transitions were used at every doorway so the floor reads as one continuous surface.
